Porosity
Low-porosity stones belong on kitchen counters. Porous stones stain and need regular sealing.
Finish
A polished surface reflects light and looks darker; a honed surface is matte and safer underfoot. Choose honed in wet areas.
Vein direction
How the block is cut (vein cut or cross cut) determines pattern continuity. For large surfaces always request samples from the same block.
Care
Avoid acidic cleaners. Sealing once a year is enough for most stones.
